Linq Is Closing Sales and Outreach Accounts on 19 October

Saad Khan4 min readChoosing a platform

TL;DR

Linq is closing the accounts of customers who use it for sales enablement, prospecting and outreach. If Linq has not heard back, it starts cancelling subscriptions and removing lines on Monday 19 October 2026. Numbers can be ported out only if the port starts before the account closes, and a released line cannot be recovered. Reply to Linq today, export your opt-out list, and start a port to your next provider.

What did Linq announce?

In October 2026 Linq began emailing customers whose use case is sales. It is shifting its focus to messaging APIs that companies build into their own products.

The notice says Linq is "moving away from supporting sales enablement, prospecting, and outreach as a primary use case for the platform." For those customers, the account closes.

It makes three practical points, listed below. Source: Linq's notice to sales customers, October 2026.

  • Numbers can be ported to another provider, but the port has to start before the account is closed.
  • Customers will not be charged for time they cannot use.
  • If Linq does not hear back, it begins cancelling subscriptions and removing lines on Monday 19 October 2026.

Why is Linq leaving sales?

Because its growth moved to AI agents, and it said so in public. Linq started as a digital business card and lead-capture tool for sales teams, then launched an iMessage API in February 2025.

In February 2026 it raised a $20M Series A led by TQ Ventures to become infrastructure for AI assistants in messaging apps (TechCrunch, 2 February 2026). Its homepage now pitches APIs built for agents.

Linq says the October decision reflects where it is investing, not a judgement of its customers' businesses.

What should you do before 19 October?

Four things, in this order. Two of them cannot be undone if you get them wrong: a released number is gone, and a lost opt-out list means texting people who already said stop.

  • Reply to Linq's email today, so your account is not closed for silence, and tell them you are porting your number out.
  • Ask Linq for the port-out details on every line you want to keep: the account number and the transfer PIN or authorization the carrier needs.
  • Export your opt-out list first, contacts second, conversation history third. The opt-out list is the one record you cannot rebuild.
  • Start the port with your next provider now. Carrier ports take several business days, so a port started on the weekend before is already tight.

Should you keep your Linq number?

Keep it if leads have it saved, if it sits on your website or signature, or if it carries live deal threads. A ported number keeps the conversation on your lead's phone exactly where it was.

Let it go if the line was new, low volume or used only for one campaign. A fresh dedicated line is quicker than a port and avoids the deadline entirely.

What should a Linq replacement offer?

On a short clock, ask any replacement these six questions in writing before you sign.

Blue Reacher's answers: Linq numbers are ported in, a dedicated line runs in parallel after one to three days of activation, opt-outs are imported first, and HubSpot, Salesforce and GoHighLevel are native.

Pricing is published: $249 a line a month, or $1,949 a year with the $449 activation waived. The day-by-day plan is in the Linq Blue switching guide.

  • Do you port my Linq number in?
  • Can I send from a new line while the port completes?
  • Who imports my opt-out list, and before which send?
  • What is the all-in first-year cost?
  • Which CRMs are native for my stack?
  • What happens when a line is flagged?

Frequently asked questions

Is Linq shutting down?

No. Linq keeps operating and is focusing on messaging APIs for AI agents. What is closing is the accounts of customers who use Linq for sales enablement, prospecting and outreach, with lines removed from Monday 19 October 2026 for accounts that have not replied.

What happens to my Linq number on 19 October?

If Linq has not heard from you, it starts cancelling the subscription and removing the line on Monday 19 October 2026. Linq says a released line cannot be recovered, so reply to Linq and start a port to your next provider before the account closes.

Can I still port my number after 19 October?

Only if the port started before Linq closed the account. Once a line is released, Linq says it cannot get it back. Replying to Linq before the deadline keeps the account from being closed for silence while you arrange the port.

Will Linq refund unused time?

Linq's notice says customers will not be charged for time they cannot use. Check how that applies to your own contract term in the notice or with Linq directly.

Does this affect Linq's API customers?

The notice is aimed at customers who use Linq for sales enablement, prospecting and outreach. Linq is investing in its messaging APIs for companies building messaging into their own products, including AI agents.

What is the fastest way to stay live?

Start a new dedicated line and the port at the same time. Blue Reacher activates a dedicated line in one to three days and files the port of your Linq number in parallel, so you keep sending while the carrier moves the number.

The Five Pages That Tell You If a Vendor's Numbers Hold Up

Most buyers read one page before a demo, and it is the pricing page. Five pages exist on nearly every messaging vendor's site, they get updated on different days, and when two of them disagree the disagreement is the most useful thing you will find all week. Here is the read order, with live contradictions dated 16 September 2026.

Per-Message Texting Bills You in Credits, Not Messages

Every per-message texting quote you have been given prices a unit called a credit. A credit is a 160-character segment, an emoji cuts it to 70, and picture messages cost three. The definition almost never appears on the pricing table. Read from vendor and carrier pricing pages on 10 September 2026.

How Long Before a New iMessage Line Can Send?

Setup promises in this category run from a few hours to about two days, and one provider will not allow an outbound first message at all until a separate gate clears. Each vendor is timing a different step, which is why a launch date built on the number in the hero slips.

Put this on your pipeline

Blue Reacher runs outbound iMessage for B2B sales teams, from your CRM, with setup handled for you.
