SMS link generator
Enter a number and an optional first message to get a tap-to-text sms: link that works on iPhone and Android, with a copy-ready HTML snippet and a QR code for print. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is stored or sent anywhere.
Text link (sms:)
sms:+15551234567?body=Hi%2C%20I'd%20like%20a%20quote.
Opens the messaging app on iPhone and Android with the number and your text prefilled. The person tapping always sends it themselves.
HTML snippet
<a href="sms:+15551234567?body=Hi%2C%20I'd%20like%20a%20quote.">Text us</a>
Paste into any page, template, or signature editor that accepts HTML. No script, no dependency, works in every builder.
What the tap opens
New message to +15551234567
Hi, I'd like a quote.
Ready to send, not sent
Scan to test
Encodes the same sms: link for print, packaging, or a counter card. A scan opens the conversation on either platform.
- sms: links work on iPhone and Android. On an iPhone, Apple still delivers over iMessage when the recipient is registered for it.
- The modern separator is ?body= with URL-encoded text, which this generator writes for you. Only long-retired iOS 7 wanted &body= instead.
- Multiple comma-separated recipients work on Android; iOS may keep only the first number, so stick to one recipient per link.
Where a text-us link beats a form
A contact form asks the visitor to do your data entry and then wait. A text link opens a channel they already live in, with the first message written, so the cost of starting drops to one tap. That is why the same offer converts more people from a text-us button than from a form, especially on mobile, where the messaging app is one swipe away.
The places it earns its keep: the contact button on a mobile site, an email signature, a Google Business Profile, and printed surfaces through the QR code. Prefill the message with context, like the product or location, and the reply tells you where the conversation came from without any tracking.

Questions
What is an sms: link?
An sms: link is a URL that opens the tapper's messaging app with a number, and optionally a first message, already filled in. sms:+15551234567?body=Hi%20there opens a new text to +1 555 123 4567 with the words already typed and ready to send. It is a web standard that works on iPhone and Android without any app or script.
How do I prefill the message text?
Append ?body= and the URL-encoded text to the number, as in sms:+15551234567?body=I%27d%20like%20a%20quote. Spaces become %20 and special characters get percent-encoded, which this generator handles for you. One legacy quirk: iOS 7 expected &body= instead of ?body=, but every iOS and Android version in circulation today takes the question-mark form.
Do sms: links work on both iPhone and Android?
Yes, and that is the reason to prefer sms: over imessage: anywhere your audience is mixed. iPhone opens Messages and still delivers over iMessage when the recipient is registered, Android opens the default SMS app, and both carry the prefilled text. One caveat: comma-separated multi-recipient links work on Android, while iOS may keep only the first number.
Can an sms: link send the message automatically?
No. Every platform requires the person to tap send themselves; a link can only open the compose window with the text ready. That is a feature rather than a limitation: the message always goes out as a deliberate action by its sender, which keeps a text-us link on the right side of consent rules.
Can a link make my message a blue bubble?
No. Bubble colour is Apple's routing decision, made at send time: registered iMessage recipients get blue, everyone else gets SMS green. An sms: link tapped on an iPhone still ends up blue whenever the recipient runs iMessage. If you want an Apple-only link that opens Messages directly, use the iMessage link generator instead.
Inbound taps are half the funnel
A text link converts the people who find you. Blue Reacher covers the other half: iMessage campaigns and sequences sent from your CRM, over dedicated lines.
