Can you automate iMessage?

Yes. iMessage ships with no business sending tools of its own, so automation runs through a platform that provides a dedicated iMessage line with an API. On that line you can run campaigns, multi-step sequences, CRM-triggered sends, and automatic opt-out handling, with replies and delivery states posting back to your CRM instead of sitting in a separate inbox.

What gets automated in practice: a new lead triggers a first text within seconds, a no-show triggers a rebooking message, a quiet deal gets a scheduled follow-up, and a whole list gets a paced campaign. The full menu, including the Zapier, Make and n8n patterns, is on the iMessage automation guide.

The pieces underneath are ordinary plumbing: a REST API and webhooks for anything your CRM can fire, and sequences for the multi-step cadences that do not need engineering at all. Whatever CRM you run is probably native already (GoHighLevel, HubSpot, Close, Salesforce, Pipedrive and Follow Up Boss), with Zapier, Make, n8n and the API and webhooks for the rest.

The part automation must not touch is the writing. A sequence that reads like a broadcast system draws opt-outs no matter how clean the plumbing is, which is why pacing and message intent get configured when a line is set up rather than left to whatever the campaign tool defaults to.
