Does Delivered mean Read in iMessage?

No. Delivered means the message reached the recipient's device; Read means they opened the conversation, and it shows only when they have read receipts on. For a business line, the pair is the channel's built-in analytics: SMS reports neither, while an iMessage line reports both per message, straight into your CRM.

Delivered fires when Apple's network hands the message to the device, so it can show while the phone is in a pocket. Read fires when the conversation is opened, and only for recipients who leave read receipts enabled, which many do for individual threads. No status usually means the handle is not reachable over iMessage, which is what availability checking tests before a send.

For a sales team the pair replaces guesswork: a Delivered with no reply is a follow-up candidate, a Read with no reply is a different message problem, and neither exists on green-bubble SMS. Blue Reacher posts delivery states per message back to the CRM, so reporting runs on states rather than vibes.

The etiquette half matters too: a business line should treat Read as timing signal, not pressure ammunition. The playbook for that, and for the whole channel, is on iMessage for sales.
