Messages Suggestions Are Back in the iOS 27.2 Beta. Here Is What Your Prospect Sees

Saad Khan7 min readiMessage outreach

TL;DR

Messages Suggestions, the one-tap buttons that turn a line in a thread into a Calendar event, Reminder or Note, are back in the iOS 27.2 beta (9to5mac.com, 30 Sep 2026). They need an Apple Intelligence iPhone set to English, and beta 3 code shows per-button off switches. Put one ask and one time per text, and keep measuring the reply, because nothing Apple describes sends a tap on their phone back to you.

What came back in the iOS 27.2 beta

9to5Mac reported on 11 September 2026, three days before iOS 27 shipped, that Apple had pulled Suggestions from Messages for a future software update (9to5mac.com, read 14 Oct 2026).

On 30 September 9to5Mac reported Suggestions back in the iOS 27.2 beta. Apple seeded the fourth 27.2 beta to developers on 13 October (macrumors.com, read 14 Oct 2026).

Nothing about sending changes. Suggestions appear on the reader's iPhone after a message arrives, so the only lever a sales team holds is how the text is written.

  • Apple's description, from its 8 June 2026 press release: Messages offers one-tap suggestions based on the context of a conversation, such as creating a reminder or a note (apple.com newsroom, read 14 Oct 2026).
  • The same release shows Add to Reminders and Add to Note buttons sitting under a message in a thread, plus a Search for Photos button when someone asks for pictures.
  • MacRumors adds Calendar: if someone invites you to an event, Messages can suggest adding it (macrumors.com, 6 Oct 2026, read 14 Oct 2026).

What a prospect sees under a rep's text

Picture a rep writing: Can you send the signed order form by Friday? On iOS 27.2, the prospect may see a small Add to Reminders button directly under that bubble.

Write instead: Does Thursday 22 October at 2:00 pm ET work for a 20 minute walkthrough? That line names an event and a time, the case MacRumors says can surface Add to Calendar.

Apple has not published the rules that decide when a button fires. Everything below is how we would write for a reader that only acts when the reason is obvious, not a spec Apple has released.

Fewer buttons than the summer beta, so far

Ryan Christoffel at 9to5Mac used Suggestions all summer. His complaint was buttons for Notes, Reminders or Calendar showing up with no clear reason in the thread.

In his testing of the 27.2 beta so far he sees fewer, and when one appears the reason is obvious (9to5mac.com, 30 Sep 2026, read 14 Oct 2026). He suspects that change explains the delay.

Our inference for a sales text: if that holds, a vague line is less likely to get any button. A specific ask with a specific time is the version a stricter reader still acts on.

Beta code shows separate off switches

MacRumors reported on 6 October that code in iOS 27.2 beta 3, found by the researcher pdfu, contains a settings screen with one toggle per Suggested Action.

Code in a beta is not a shipped setting. Apple can rename, move or drop any of it before release, so treat the list below as direction, not documentation.

  • Separate toggles for Add to Calendar, Add to Reminders, Add to Notes, Show in Maps, and Flights and Packages (macrumors.com, 6 Oct 2026, read 14 Oct 2026).
  • A Hide Unused Suggestions switch: when on, suggestions a person does not use stop showing in Messages after 30 days. Turning a toggle off and on brings a hidden one back, per pdfu's screenshot.
  • The second-order effect: a prospect who never taps Add to Calendar could train that button off their phone within a month, for every sender, not just you.

Who will actually see the buttons

Apple announced Suggestions inside its Apple Intelligence release, which lists iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max and iPhone 16 or later for Apple Intelligence in iOS 27 (apple.com, 8 Jun 2026).

Footnote 2 of that release says Suggestions in Mail and Messages will be available in English. Footnote 1 says new Apple Intelligence features will not be available in China for now.

And iOS 27.2 is not out. MacRumors expects it shortly after the iPhone Duo launch on 23 October (macrumors.com, 13 Oct 2026, read 14 Oct 2026). Apple has given no date.

  • Older iPhones, phones not set to English, and anyone on iOS 27.0, where Apple pulled the feature, will see your text with no button under it.
  • Suggestions belong to Apple's Messages app, so Android contacts reading in Google Messages will not see them.
  • So a rep's list will split: some prospects get a one-tap Calendar add, most get plain text. Write the message so it works for both.

Write each text so the button has one job

None of this needs a new playbook. It rewards habits that already lift replies on a phone: short texts, one ask each, and times written out in full.

Our own rule set for reps, written for a reader that acts only when the reason is obvious:

  • One ask per text. A message carrying a question, a link and a request gives a parser three candidates and the prospect three decisions.
  • Write the full time: day, date, clock time and time zone. Thursday 22 October, 2:00 pm ET beats tomorrow afternoon, which means nothing on a text read a day late.
  • Put the ask in its own bubble. Context first, ask second, so the button lands under the line that needs action.
  • Name the task in the prospect's words: send the signed form, forward the deck to Priya. A clear verb and object is the shape a reminder needs.
  • Keep the first message free of links. Our earlier post covers why an unknown sender's first text should carry none.

The reply is still the only signal you get

Nothing Apple has described sends a tapped suggestion back to the sender, so a Calendar add on the prospect's iPhone will not show up in your CRM. Silence is not a no.

So end the time-proposal text with a reply ask: Reply YES and I will send the invite. A one-word reply is measurable, it moves the deal, and the invite goes out from your side.

Then score it on reply rate and conversion, the same as any other step. A button that saves the prospect ten seconds helps only if it turns into a reply you can see.

  • Smart Reply in Messages now draws on a user's personalized writing style (apple.com newsroom, 8 Jun 2026). A short YES is easy to send, whether typed or suggested.
  • Track reply rate per message, not per sequence, so you can see whether a rewritten ask line actually moved it.

Where Blue Reacher sits in this

Blue Reacher sends over iMessage from dedicated iMessage lines, so no A2P registration is required. Suggestions are an Apple feature on the reader's phone, and no vendor controls when they fire.

Messages send from your CRM, so the YES lands on the same contact record as the original ask, and the rep sees it in the thread they started.

We are a vendor in this category. Every Apple fact here is dated, because a beta feature can change between now and release.

  • Pacing is published: no total daily message cap, replies are never metered, and new conversations pace at 50 opted-in or 30 cold new contacts per line per day.

Frequently asked questions

What are Messages Suggestions in iOS 27.2?

One-tap buttons that appear under a message when the conversation points to a clear next step, such as Add to Reminders, Add to Note or Add to Calendar. Apple announced them on 8 June 2026, pulled them before iOS 27 shipped (reported 11 September), and they returned in the iOS 27.2 beta (9to5mac.com, 30 Sep 2026).

When does iOS 27.2 come out?

Apple has not given a date. The fourth developer beta arrived on 13 October 2026, and MacRumors expects the release shortly after the iPhone Duo launches on 23 October (macrumors.com, read 14 Oct 2026). Features in a beta can still change or be pulled.

Which iPhones get Messages Suggestions?

Apple announced Suggestions as part of Apple Intelligence, which its 8 June 2026 release lists for iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 16 models or later. The same release says Suggestions in Mail and Messages will be available in English.

Can a prospect turn Suggestions off?

Code in iOS 27.2 beta 3 shows a toggle for each action, from Add to Calendar to Flights and Packages, plus a Hide Unused Suggestions switch that stops showing unused ones after 30 days (macrumors.com, 6 Oct 2026). Code is not a shipped setting until release.

Do Suggestions change how iMessages are delivered?

No. Suggestions appear on the reader's iPhone after a message arrives. Nothing Apple has described changes how messages send or reach the inbox. The writing of the message is the only part a sender controls.

Will I know if a prospect added my meeting to their calendar?

Not from Apple. Nothing Apple has described sends a tapped suggestion back to the sender. Ask for a one-word reply such as YES, then send the invite yourself, so the step shows up in your CRM.

iOS 27 Shipped Without the Messages Feature Everyone Wrote About

Apple released iOS 27 today. The Messages feature that led most of the coverage was removed from the build three days before release and has no date. What shipped instead is a quieter change to green-bubble threads that takes rows out of your inbox without taking engagement out of your pipeline. Read from Apple's own release notes and launch coverage on 14 September 2026.

iOS 27 Changes What Counts as a Reply

Apple shipped a Messages update on 14 September 2026 that rewrites three things a sales team measures without touching a single thing a sales team does. Reactions stop being text. Suggested replies start sounding like the person sending them. Failed sends retry without telling anyone. None of that is a feature announcement for outbound, and all of it lands in your numbers.
