What is MCP server?

An MCP server is a service that exposes a product's capabilities to AI assistants through the Model Context Protocol, letting an assistant use that product directly.

Model Context Protocol is a shared standard for connecting AI assistants to external tools. An MCP server for a messaging platform lets an assistant send messages, check delivery, and read replies as part of a workflow.

For sales teams building AI-assisted outreach, MCP support determines whether their assistant can operate the messaging channel or merely draft text for a human to paste.
