Do I need A2P registration?

No. A2P 10DLC is the US carrier registration system for application-to-person messages sent over carrier SMS routes. iMessage does not travel over carrier SMS routes, so no A2P registration is required: no brand vetting, no campaign approval queue, no per-campaign monthly fees, and no per-message carrier surcharge.

What A2P registration is, in one breath: before a business sends automated texts from a standard 10-digit number over carrier SMS, it must register its brand and its campaign, and carriers assign it a trust score that caps its volume. Registration carries one-time fees, per-campaign monthly fees, and per-message carrier surcharges that scale with volume, and the process commonly runs one to four weeks end to end. The reason it does not apply here is structural rather than clever. Registration attaches to carrier SMS routes, and iMessage runs as data through Apple's messaging service instead. Keep a line on iMessage only and there is nothing to register anywhere.

One honest nuance. Blue Reacher lines can step down to RCS and SMS for contacts iMessage cannot reach, and those lower rungs are carrier routes, so traffic that travels over them follows the registration rules for that route. Registration and consent are different questions. A2P is carrier plumbing; the TCPA is law, and it applies to business texting on every channel. Consent, opt-out handling, and list hygiene still matter on iMessage exactly as much as anywhere else, which is why every Blue Reacher line ships with automatic opt-out enforcement running from day one.
