Do iMessages get marked as spam?
There is no carrier spam filter sitting on iMessage, so messages do not get silently dropped in transit the way filtered SMS does. Recipients can still delete a thread, block a sender, or report it as junk, and a sender that piles up blocks and reports damages its own line. Spam on iMessage is a behavior problem to prevent, not a filter to beat.
The difference in failure mode matters. Filtered SMS fails invisibly: the carrier drops the message and nobody learns anything. On iMessage, delivery states report what happened, and the feedback that matters comes from recipients, which means the sender sees the problem while it is still fixable: falling reply rates and rising opt-outs arrive before real damage does.
Prevention is the same discipline every healthy program runs: a right-fit list, messages written like a person, pacing that matches sender reputation, and opt-outs honored instantly. The full practice set is in the iMessage deliverability guide.
The design goal is threads people answer. Two-way conversation is both the commercial point of the channel and its best protection, because a line that earns replies and saved contacts looks nothing like a spammer to anyone, recipient or platform. What that means for how campaigns get built is on iMessage marketing.
